Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Could very likely be the SPRs, especially if it is the small beige one in the middle, that looks like our pullet eggs and they should be 20-22 weeks about now....

Yep, the small one in the middle. I never did look up what their egg color would be. I had just assumed brown but it looked darker than my Rhodebar's egg but lighter than my normal brown eggs so I wasn't sure lol.

Those SPR girls are really rather stunning. I just wish they were more trusting. I guess, being broody raised, I'm really going to have to work with them this spring/summer on trusting me and give them a bunch of treats. Right now they get panicky if I try to touch them.

Their hatch was mid September, this is their group at one or two days old, pic including says 9/16 for date.

And I snapped their picture on Friday way to meet you...

They were such cute little things! I need to get a picture of them now to show you. Thanks for the date. About 5 months old, 20 some weeks. Sounds about right. So what are the rhodebars waiting on? They're older than that!

Bring them inside for a couple days of spoiling and they will become a pain! LOL.... many of mine trip me up all the time outside and Lacey leaps up to grab my hand or coat to get attention, but it does take some time for them to settle.

I think hubby may argue that one lol. I'll work on them with really good, special treats. Not sure what yet but probably meal worms. I have to wait until it's at least semi warm out though. I do not handle this cold stuff well at all!

I got a totally unexpected pullet egg today

I guess I've kinda lost track of how old my young ladies are. It has to either be from one of my Rhodebar girls or one of the SPR girls. Any guesses? I honestly forget exactly when I got them and how old they are lol. Time to look back in the old calender...if I can find it.

My poults are selling out almost as fast as I can hatch them. Most of last week's hatch goes to their new homes tomorrow and the rest on Saturday. I have 27 more eggs due to hatch Friday and I believe they're all sold too lol. I even had a lady who put in an order for poults ask me if I had any colored egg layers and if I'd hatch some for them. They don't care that they'd be mixed breed and they want 10-12 of them so I've been collecting all week to set on Friday lol.

I think everyone is finally getting in chick mode around here.

Yup, TSC already has chicken supplements out. Everybody is ready for spring chicks.

Argh! So sorry about your loss

that's not right.

Thanks!

Neighbors cat or not. SSS

I've thought of that, but I never never see the thing when it's hunting. It's only after, that I hear the screams. What a terrible sound.

I'm sorry you lost another one. I hope the last one grows up and gets a chance for revenge on that cat!
I have seen turkey hens when they are upset and I'm sure it would scare the cat so bad he'd think 3 times before coming into your yard. The noise they made was straight out of Jurassic Park, I thought they were gonna kill something.

Thanks. Someday I will have a better setup. Until then, I gotta do what I can.
