Most of our girls have very small combs when hatched, prominent combs and bold head spots generally are the roosters in our barnyard mixes.

Congrats! They're looking good!
So my poor little turkey chick was screaming outside today. I think Mama chicken was having a hard time keeping it warm. It was screaming so loud I could hear I in the house. So... I both them both inside for the next couple days. The chick was so cold and has quieted right down now. Thankfully Hubby wasn't upset.![]()

Glad the DH was understanding.

So, let's see what the hatch brings. See if he gets to live.I am going to need to get a schedule for myself. I need to re-read about cleaning a bird. And then re-set up an area to do it. It is going to take concentration, so Duckling needs to be sleeping when I am researching.![]()

We had another friend hatch out 25 mixes late fall, and of course he ended up with 12 boys, he can't butcher his own so DH and I picked them up and processed them for him last week.
Odds are you will get half and half, when they are big enough I will come spend some time visiting and we will take care of the extras. If you prefer I can bring some jars of processed 'stranger chicken' and swap it for yours, lol.
What are you not allowed to eat them if they have a name?I appreciate your help. I don't think I need the stranger chicken though. I had no problem eating the two turkeys I raised. I'm doing this knowing I'll eat them. It's why I said "Kenny for now" he won't be named for real. If he's the only one, he will live. Otherwise, I'm glad I have three plus dozen canning jars.
Oh your not? My roo that had a name tasted just as good as the one that didn't.You know you aren't supposed to name your food.![]()
Btw, I can't say it in the other thread (thanks to a certain someone) but I did open the incubator, and it wasn't a pip with yellow coming out. It was part of the shell from the last chick . It was just changing colors.
