Thank you. I'm really worried about her now. Penny is always tiny and is only half of the size of Bear. fisherlady suggested me give her scrambled egg yesterday, and I was so happy to see she ate a lot. Then she's in trouble again this morning.

Sorry she is having problems, if she is getting jostled a lot or picked on at all she may need further separation... today she needs some quiet time to recover from the stress she went through. I would continue to offer a mix of chick starter and scrambled eggs to her separate from the others so she doesn't need to compete for food and add chick vitamins to the water if you haven't already. I have even mixed a couple drops of nutri-drench in a tablespoon of water with a 1/2 teaspoon of brown sugar and gave it to weak chicks, can be given via spoon (just touch their beak to it's edge) or by dropper.

Tillypeeps, you can also give her a 'snuggle buddy'... basically a very small, soft stuffed animal or even a small rolled towel or sock, they like to cuddle against something when they sleep and it would allow her to do that even if the others are out and about.

Thanks very much for your help!

I did try to separate her from the others, with a stuffed animal, chick heating pad, scrambled egg, feed ,water, etc. But she was really upset and chirping loudly, so I put her back with her friends, then she calmed down. Nobody seems bullying her at all, so I just let her stay with her friends.

They always have vitamin and electrolytes and ACV in their water. I just changed their water this morning with nutri-drench mixed in, because she may need some extra energy. I also added probiotic to their chick starter. I'll try to give her nutri-drench and brown sugar sugar in person later.

Sounds like you are giving her great care

, hopefully time to rest will allow her to recover and catch up with her brooder mates!

I can't sleep without telling you guys! I got a message from LittleMissPurdy about two hours ago!!
She is doing okay, and should be back on here as soon as possible.
It's funny that Stake comes back, and now she's back! A few others have been MIA, and have returned. I would say it's because it's spring, but I know that a lot of people have just had busy lives this past year and it's just now clearing up.

I miss LMP! She is such a wonderful person!

. By the way, the scrambled egg is a really great idea. She was never interested in other treats and ate much less feed than other chicks, but she jumped on my hand to eat the eggs. I felt relieved for she eating good, until she got herself in trouble again this morning.

Welcome to my world. LOL I think you're spoiled with those chicks that are sexable at hatch!

Quote: Oh Tilly, so sorry. I'm glad she has you to care for her.

I had a singleton chick hatch this weekend. I sent her to a different farm that had a recent hatch so she wouldn't be alone, unfortunately, she wasn't accepted by the chicks at this other farm and is badly injured. They pretty much scalped her. She is now back on my counter top, she has a few stuffed animal friends, and doesn't seem very interested in eating or drinking. I dip her beak every time I pass that way. Poor little thing. She was peeping her head off last night after I picked her up, this morning she's not as vocal. I can't figure out if that's a good thing or not. Sometimes I think, 'oh good, she's settled', and then I think, 'oh no, she's dying.'

I'm glad it worked... ours often like baked or boiled fish which has been mushed up also. The little buggers are omnivores, but ours sure show a preference for meat when they can get it!

Sorry to hear that. It's so frustrating when chicks are not doing well. Hope our chicks can both pull through.
