Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Are anyone else's chickens looking sooo happy today? Sunbathing, dust bathing, just scratching around. I think they have spring fever!

Well Anne:

My dumb youg'ins seem a bit confused....they come out of the coop for crumble then mill a bit then back into the coop....(I believe they are fixated on the pine chips)...they've got lots of trepidation about everything....(hell, they won't even peck at a cherry tomato???)

I think tomorrow's project is to rebuild the main coop's pen (assuming HD has everything I need) I will get to play with my new toy, one man earth auger!!! All will get to free range a bit since I will be there....

Honestly, you might be fine. I purchased a silkie from TSC a year or two ago. For the longest time, he was bigger than my red stars that were the same age. When he matured he was 5.5 pounds, huge for a "bantam". I'll try to post a picture of him in a little while, but the horrendous quality of TSC silkies may be to your benefit!I
I'm hoping so my Buffs are Huge. I have one that can be a bit nippy at times. So I fear my silkies will be tiny in comparison, and get bullied.. I'm still curious about what color they will grow to be...So excited to have them..
.I didn't realize TSC was not a good source to purchase chicks. I purchased my BO's from country junction and didn't have any issues. I did start with 5, and one passed. We miss her lots, she was the tamest of them all.

Alright, good to know I'm not alone

Here he is! His name was Francis. You can see some of the red stars around him, BCM pullet in the background, and 3+ year old Buff Ameraucana rooster in front of him. He was a big guy

His fabulous floppy single comb

He is so debonair!!!

Mine have been thrilled to death with this weather. Except the turkeys. They were mad at me today because I wouldn't let them out. I had places to go so I couldn't make sure they stayed in the yard today lol
