My humble opinion is this: It does not make any difference to me how much experience someone has in the industry, there is no reason to be unkind or rude to those who are just starting off and trying to learn. Being kind is a choice and it's free. I feel certain that Mrs. Blum did not raise 10 children or become the amazing 4-H leader that she was by belittling those who needed guidance.

Everyone ready for those 60 mile hour winds might want to get some stuff ready for incubators and chicks to keep them warm just incase the power goes out I am going to fill a jar of hot water to set in with mine even though ey don't use the heat lamp anymore but hen they wouldn't have the furnace running so it could be pretty cold in here for them

We thought we were ready... but not so much. Found porch furniture in the woods and the trampoline which had been tied into the ground and hasn't moved in years, lifted off! It did NOT hit the house and it hung up on the swing set for now.
Blarney! Whew! I thought BYC was having the "alone in the forum" problem again! No one is on in any of my other threads!

I was scared.
I'm just seeing this now! We drove to Northern Central PA today, to a little town called 'Jersey Shore', PA (who knew, right?), I waved to all yuns on my way past

I used to volunteer at a horse place there, but we moved the program.
I know Jersey Shore. They have the Pine Creek bike trail. Jersey shore is roughly 40 min. From me.

We've had strong winds today and had to drive on the road going over seven mountains to Lewistown (fun.. Not really...). Woke up to a dusting of snow.

And I did say that I agree with you. I just understand the frustration behind those people's reaction and believe it's important to consider both sides, however as I said before, I agree with you that the aggression and unkindness exhibited in the typical lash-outs are unecessary.
Also, she did not become the amazing leader she was because she believed in "belittling" anybody, she became the amazing leader she was because of the guidance she provided. That being said, she was not the kind of individual to avoid talking on the subject due to fear of offering offence, she educated to make us better showman. She was a blunt individual and she was never afraid to pull me to the side after a showmanship and be like "oh you should have done this, or you should have presented that like this". That being said, she was always caring/kind/compassionate about it and that's the way education should be. That's really the point I wanted to get across, that it shouldn't not be said because you're afraid to be say it. Knowledge should be said with passion and kindness :) regardless, I'm always excited to talk about my favorite breeds to the club!
