Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

I asked about the Jersey Giants. I'm still not sure what we have. She looks identical to your pic at a week old. She's suppose to be an Austrolorp. She has yellow feet though. Do they grow really slow? I got Delawares and Black sex link that are huge compared to her.

Giants have yellow skin and foot soles, aussies have white skin and pinkish/white foot soles. If the bottom of your baby's feet are yellow, it's a giant. I have a 4 week old giant pullet out in one of my brooders and she's smaller than my cuckoo marans that is the same age

I attempted to graft 2 chicks each to my 3 broody today since their eggs didn't look too promising. Elsa and Honey both dug the chicks out from under them and tried to attack them. Ana happily accepted all of them. She now has 2 lavender ameraucana chicks and 4 olive eggers to raise lol. I'll get pictures in a few days when they've bonded well with each other. I gave Elsa and Honey back the couple eggs that looked like they might still have a chance and we'll see how they do. I forgot to mark when hatch day is but I think they so have a few days to go.

I'm glad Anna cooperated, some hens are really persnickity about the timing thing though. In another couple of days the other two might be great about taking grafts, hens just can't be predictable, it would take all of the drama out of it! :gig

True lol but I won't have more graft-able chicks in a couple days. These ones just hatched out this weekend. Oh well. Hopefully at least one of each of the other girl's eggs hatch.

Here is the post from 16 days ago, so Anna should be good...I don't remember how many days behind Elsa was....

Wow, I thought she was sitting longer than that. Oh well, at least she was willing. Honey went broody a few days before Ana and Elsa started just two or three days later. I guess that makes sense though Elsa wasn't quite ready but Honey is just being particular. It's still early.

I posted a few days back, but here is a picture of her foot sole. To me it looks yellow with slight pinkish toward the back/pad. Like I said though, the chicks they are now selling at them same place they are also saying they are austrolorps and they look exactly them same including their feet.

That looks yellow to me but sometimes the indoor lighting affects the appearance of the color in pictures. But keep in mind it will be VERY obvious if it is yellow or now, white skinned birds have zero yellow on their feet. I'll try to get a good comparison picture for you tonight :)

So I went down to check the eggs and lo and behold I have two chicks hatched under my broody hen! It surprised me. My wife jump back yelling "what was that!!"
Congrats!!

I think I have a girl and a boy but not 100% one quacks very loud so pretty sure at least one girl but wondering what you all think. The first pic the bill looks yellow but it's sort of a light caramel brown.

I have zero experience in sexing ducks, but they sure are cute!

FINALLY have my long awaited for chicks, We decided to make it a long weekend and drive the 7 hours to Ohio (Meyer Hatchery) and pick up the babies instead of have them shipped. We ended up with 2 extra ( Meyers Meal Maker and an additional random chick) I will label them as to my best guess based on what i ordered!

5. Red Sex link?

6. Maybe an extra of some kind? Rhode island red? This one is a lot darker than the sex links
These could both be RSL as they vary in color.
