Arg! Quick venting time please. So we got our new parrot in October. She does scream occasionally, at least every day. It is very loud, quick, but startling, mostly. it scares the dog, but she has been okay thus far. However, since we have taken or carpets up a week or so ago, ALL noises echo a ton and the dog has started to get anxious. Now, she has developed pretty bad separation anxiety. I have seen Cesar Milan say that that is mostly an energy issue, that the dogs have too much. She has chewed off the molding around the door and is now trying to chew the door. We are trying to put our house up for sale soon, so we really can't have this. I have been trying to take her for long walks in the morning and run her a bit too. I'm going to have to up how much excerise she gets and bring her to work with me for a while. Thankfully I have that option. Creating her didn't help either, she chewed the tray in her crate and chipped two teeth. I am taking her to the vet tomorrow to rule out any physical problems.

Rant over!

Anne:

Sorry to hear:

Pooches are really sensitive to the mood of their owners....moving is stressful....its probably bleeding through.....if you pup isn't really young, they shouldn't be chewing....get them a big bone to work on and schedule a bit of lap time on the couch....and of course a shot of Jim Beam doesn't hurt...(for you)....my two cents...

Well, Elsa and Honey both failed. They each had an egg that developed fully. I heard each egg peeping but even when they were peeping, both broodies left the nest anyway to go do their daily routine. I checked a few days after I heard peeping and both eggs were DIS. I tried slipping a poult under each if them. They both rejected and attacked the poor thing so it's time to break them. They're going to be so upset tomorrow. Thankfully, Ana is still doing wonderfully with her 6 babies.

Does anyone know where I can get Lavender Orpingtons at? I just came across the breed a couple of weeks ago and would love to add them to our flock.

Thanks Stake, I think you're right. I think she's picked up on my extra stress level since my Mom passed in November as well. Sometimes I wish I drank, but I don't. I will definitely up her exercise routine though.

Also, great news! I have found someone to take my girls in for a few months while we sell our home. As soon as my broody hatches out her clutch, they will be headed to the farm. I even have a friend that is going to help me transport. Hallelujah!

For the last few days one of my turkey hens has insisted on hanging out in the chicken run instead of with her 'sister' in the turkey run. I checked where she was roosting tonight and she squeezed herself through the run door and is sleeping in the chicken coop! I'm wondering if she feels safer with the chickens (and rooster) since Chester passed? The other turkey hen seems content to stay in the turkey run all by herself.

Also, turkey eggs are supposed to take 28 days, right? Day 28 was yesterday (or today if you don't count the first day since I started them very late at night) and still nothing from my 10 eggs :( I was really hoping for some offspring so Chester's genetics could carry on. I candled around day 14, but the shells are so thick it was hard to see anything. I am sure I saw movement in several of them though. I am a little worried because I didn't do lockdown until Sunday since our week was so busy with my mom visiting and my daughter's rehearsals/performances. I'm really hoping I didn't screw them up... there is still hope for tomorrow, right? At what point do I throw them out?

I do have 8 more eggs in the bater that I set 2 weeks after these ones, and my sister has 3-4 of Chester's eggs under her broodies. .

I had a turkey hatch last week that never went into lockdown at all, Poor thing was overlooked when I was pulling eggs and hatched a foot up in the air on a turner rack and had to scramble over the other eggs to tumble down to the bottom of the incubator. So I doubt the late lockdown was the issue. I figure 27 days for turkeys and they sometimes hatch at 26 days. I've had a few that hatch late also, but they seldom make it.

I'd give them another 2-3 days just to be sure. Maybe your temps were just a little low. I know that mine routinely hatch 1-2 days late
