are you ready for 2 more additionsPlease forgive me if I've gone picture happy!! I transferred my chickens from the indoor brooder to their coop this past Saturday. The first few nights I was quite nervous, but it seems that they are doing quite well. The coop will, admittedly, not suit our needs for long by itself, so the construction of a much larger and roomier addition is in the works. My hubby is much more excited about it that I would have thought!!! The fever is spreading! In the meantime, the girls are enjoying the enclosed space of the box at night. Poor Tank will be getting a space of his own in the new addition, but he is currently unable, or unwilling, to walk his big butt up the ladder.![]()
My cats had their first introduction to the birds on Saturday, too! My one year old, bird hunter, Maverick, was very interested... He still tries to sneak up on the coop, but I think he's pretty well resigned to the fact that he can't get to them. I felt fairly safe letting him observe with Mom close by!!

This is one of the reasons we took them outside when we did! They'd been flying up on their feeder from early days, and were doing the same to the sides of our brooder box, so we had to put chicken wire over the top! We would take it off a couple of times a week to let them get a bit of exercise, and they'd be out like a flash!!! I have a video of 4 of my 5 ladies flying up within seconds of the wire coming off...are your's rowdy if so they definitely will
i have them in a 300 gallon cow water tub in my garage and they fly up on top of it![]()
I can send you a bouncy check.
