Pickering isn't too far from me. I will check them out! Thanks!

:thumbsup

Hatch started last night. So far, I think I have 4 of 10 hatched.

Yay chickies! :jumpy

LOL... getting ready to advertise some myself, 4 broodies recently gave up their chicks, 2 more still have chicks, one hatched on the 4th (8 chicks) and 2 more are still setting. Apparently the hens are in full "it's too hot to bother egging so we want to hatch chicks" mode.

Lol! If only you and Aurora weren't so far I could help on a couple months. Good thing I live near the PPP (Pa poultry pimp, aka @dheltzel) :gig

Oh dear! what are the new people here going to think of me?

Trying some changes with the hatching process to get more Bielefelders to hatch so I have some for you. Last week, the 2 eggs that made it to lockdown both pipped. The male hatched and the female died in the shell

I really think you want Welbars though. Greenfire just announced on their FB page that they will be selling Welbars in 2017. Rumor has it, for $99 a chick, which is pretty typical for a newly imported breed that (allegedly) does not exist in the US. I'm counting on them for "Legbar level" hype next year.

Added a tupperware container made ice cube to the waterer. I'm about to go add more regular sized into the lip of it and hose down the ground for my girls. Watermelon slices in the freezer, along with 3 water bottles. They're working on burying themselves out there. And this is just the first day of this heat streak? :th

Today is the first day that my 3 little polish babies (along with one tiny little lone legbar pullet that I had leftover from my last hatch) and the new blue silkies are out free ranging, they're having the time of their lives but they're panting like crazy. Everyone's keeping mostly to the shade in this heat and digging nice deep holes to bathe in out in the woods. One of my turkey hens made herself a great dusting hole and was chirping and talking up a storm while she bathed lol

Usually when my hens start talking to themselves at odd times during the day they go broody in the near future! :jumpy LOL

Hello All,
@fisherlady
 Cookie is still eating drinking, and acting like a chicken, but today the whole underside of her wing is a deep purple, like a bad bruise, there is no drainage, but a very large amount of swelling, she still has her wing extended down. :(

I got my first egg today! It's a duck egg, they layed it right next to the pond, it is so little, the size of a medium chicken egg.

So Exciting!

How is your girl doing? I hope the bruising and swelling have receded.
