Hey T:

Assume you are on the upper peninsula, didn't know heron's laid blue......
South central Michigan on a local lake when I went fishing on July 4th. I didn't know green herons laid blue eggs either, I was pleasantly surprised.

I was told by the guy in the weapons department, that this was the only knife he would recommend for slitting a neck. Do you guys agree?

I am not familiar with that knife, but we have tried quite a few, most extremely sharp knives can work, but I still prefer a razor blade for a sure cut with minimal pressure. What ever knife you choose the most important thing to do is get familiar with handling it and practice how much pressure you need to fe effective. Buy a few chicken legs at the store and practice cutting through the skin on them....

I won't open it until close to when I need it. That way, if I find one that seems like it would work better, I can still return this one. I question the thickness of the blade. He assured me that he had used one before.
We will see. I at least feel that it will be sharp enough to do the job. If I do stick with this one, I will be practicing with it.

MCC:

There is a knife called "Klenk" ...its primary usage is as a heating duct cutter...they are sharper than any other knife (out of the box) and cost $15.00.....I use them for fishing and other odds and ends....they will handle chickens like butter....

PS: salesmen lie....(go figure...)

here's a pic

I prefer one with at least a 5" blade. That way I can do it with one swipe.
