depending on the variety you have, will depend on how "green" they get...best way to know for sure is to do a taste test....they are the best kinds of tests

i have pickle envy...my cucumbers are very sad, only got enough for 4 jars of fridge pickles.... I have put seeds down for a late crop. They are up and doing very well, fingers crossed I can get something out of those

My carrots this year have been giving trouble, yeah..carrots..of all the veggies..the easiest. I have planted them 3 times already this season...not till this last planting did the seeds actually really sprout up...read a bit , thought maybe I did something stupid

DH has been watering every night for me, maybe that is what they needed .
I have a second planting of green & yellow beans...got to have lots of bean salad to get through the winter

....would have loved to set another onion row, but I couldn't find anyone who had onion sets.
I will know better to get extra next spring & plant them at a couple weeks intervals.

DH loves dove...I love to hunt them, so much fun!!! He just pops the breast out, not too much on those little birds for sure.

Yeah I try to give them a few frozen water bottles throughout the day, I cut a gallon jug in half to make a big ice block for their waterer, and fill a plant water catcher with ice blocks and cubes for then to wade in (which they mostly dip their beaks in...)

The cucumbers are not too bad, but my pumpkins are in danger. I need to use Sevin on a regular basis, watch when I water, and hope for the best.
I can't believe that you would shoot the poor little birds! :eek: They come right to you!

we talked about tossing some sevin, but..i have enough issues..hahahaha, not going to add to them..even if nothing would most likely happen..hahahaa....

Ummm, it is like skeet shooting...sorry, but it is so much fun. we didn't hunt morning doves though, these birds do NOT go for humans...we hunted around edges of corn fields in late summer, early fall...when farms started their corn picking..more the fodder corn. and we would ALWAYS have permission, thank you very much

Aurora..we had some very heavy rain here in clinton co., got a bit 'breezy' too...only 4 peaches fell, hubby watched out the windows the whole time talking to the tree...

We have never experienced that simple life pleasure and I do not believe we would like to start it now, beside, I just swept the porch this morning..so...
