@dheltzel This is one of the CCL I got from you last year.

My broody Cream Legbar, Blackhawk (named by my 6 yr old because her head fluff is dark). She's sitting on 4 duck eggs.

She looks determined to see it through. Is she a "mean broody", by that I mean does she peck viciously when you disturb her or does she let you lift her up and inspect the eggs without complaining (much) ?
I find the few Legbars and Welsummers that have gone broody are as sweet as the bantam cochins and silkies, but the Ameraucanas (and any hybrids with an Ameraucana parent) would remove a finger or 2 if they could. I make a point of breaking the mean ones, but the placid ones can sit there and I just remember to remove any eggs every day.

So far she has been very easy to work with. She'll try to bite my hand a couple times but I'm able to feel around under her and pick her up to check for extra eggs. She'll also puff herself up and make some noise but no violent thrashing about or trying to kill my hand.

Josh's EKG came back normal. No idea why he passed out.

Glad to hear good results so far.

I moved to NY this week, and find it's a great place for me. Many colleagues have their own small farms. I don't get the weird looking that I used to get when telling people I have chickens. We can sit there talking about all kinds of animals. Even better yet, I'll travel back to PA almost every month so I will meet family and friends and my chickens frequently.

Aw, we love the broody pics...

I still think girls. Any opinions?
I have very limited knowledge, but it looks they look like pullets to me!

I just went out to check on the girls, and Tiny came up to the door so I opened it and she started stomping her feet and squatting down so I gave her a nice back rub and when I stopped she fluffed herself and walked off. Looks like I'm gonna get eggs soon!
