I watched KFC stand in the corner of the coop, of course NOT using nest boxes..anyway, she has her mouth open and this look on her face like, "why does this keep happening?!"...hahah

, wish I had the camera, cause this was seriously funny...then I get a leg peck and there is Thelma, ...then a leg rub, there is louise...hahahaha, funny birds!
Let the petting commence!

...I don't know if it is just because she is being petted, but Thelma really hunkers down...

isn't he a country singer ?....i am not fond of country anyway, wait..let me clarify before I am totally kicked out...i enjoy the country music I grew up hearing when being with my grandmother...not this stuff they have out now...cottoncandy people who go from pop to country , back & forth..

it was 80* here at 8am....wow.....maybe an Alaskan vacation is in ordere , that does sound super nice eh?!

Hot and muggy in Erie also, I am actually looking forward to some rain to take the edge off!

But in good news our 'sort of free' ice machine is chugging away making lots of cool stuff. We got it free when a personal care home closed because it wasn't working. For $250 in parts and labor it is now making ice for daily fishing trips. No more 4 a.m. ice stops at convenience stores!

Thanks!...since we have been canning real-apple pie filling, I have stopped making this kind, but it is still a great way of using up extra zucchini!

KFC did lay an egg, forgot to finish the story...it plopped right there between her feet..she just stood there for a moment ..in a daze.."wha, wha just happened?"
Sheetz has nothing on chickens, they give new meaning to "hot & ready"!!

Yes, he is. I just can't be sure I should name the current boy Vince. I want to keep him because he is the only boy that survived the raccoon attack. However, he has brown leakage, and cannot be used as breeding stock.

It is pretty good sized, it can actually produce 196# of ice a day, but we will be happy with a couple 10# bags worth. The neighbors at camp will be able to use it also, so bigger than what we need for ourselves but can't beat the deal and gives us plenty to share.

Has anyone every crossed wyandotte & barred rock?....just wondering what is the end  product was...
not looking to do this..just curious.
I would love to produce the awesome bird I have from *Chad...barred rock /Marans..i think...
She is fantastic!! Lays 5-6 days, dark brown eggs and not broody!! I can't ask for better...she is a bit nuts, but she is also a chicken so...

If dad is wyandotte and mom is barred rock, the chicks should be black sexlinks and only males have dots on their head. I'm sure Dennis will give you more details or correct me as a chicken gene expert.
