My husband was complaining about me bringing home 20 chickens a couple of weeks ago. I had to explain, we go through 4 eggs every day at breakfast alone, and if I want to do any more cooking I need more eggs. Also, if I want to have any to sell/give away I would need more. Etc... He hasn't said anything about it since then, haha. Now how do I convince him that I need some banty cochins which will become broody for me? I think he is adjusting to and realizing that we have a lot of woods, and the chickens love to forage out there, so they won't be pooping all over his lawn like they were when we were in suburbia.
DHeltzel found a lady that has banty cochin chicks. I loved my one banty cochin and I really want more. I can figure this out somehow...
So this morning, the turkeys seemed to be chasing the chickens in their shared enclosure. I think they all have enjoyed free ranging and are anxious to get out and forage. So I opened the gate a crack so only the chickens could get out. Five minutes later, I look out and see that 2 turkey hens had squeezed out. They are too flighty yet to be guided back in, so I fully opened up the gate and let them all out. Hopefully nobody will wander into the neighbors yard... I won't be home until 7:30 or so.
They have full access to their food and water and their shelter.
