Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

GM all:

Going to be moving some chooks today.....babies are going to coop#1 and my three marans from DH are going to coop#2...

BTW, DH, how big is/was your breeding group of Marans??? wouldn't want to be breeding brother/sister....

It was a small group all brother/sister or father daughter matings for 2 generations. I don't think it will make much difference really, they are lousy layers, IMO. I sold off all the parents. I have one blue pullet left in a growout pen I need to sell, then I am done with Marans.

So far, the two girls are laying less than my other marans...but, these girls are alot more eye candy than the old girls...yet to see if they'll go broody????
 
Here are my little babies running around. I Did catch the one that is outside the containment area, and I also added a large piece of plywood for more protection from Hawks and such. The carrier is left in there so they cane hide as well.

Well, none of my Marans ever went broody, even at 2+ years of age. Legbars, Welbars, Ameraucanas, all go broody, but not Marans. Wierd, huh ?
