I think I'm going to need a couple of silver welbars this spring! They are so pretty.

And I'm glad I'm not the only crazy chicken lady to have chicks in November

My neighbor asked for some help tonight with processing the 3 silkie roosters that she picked up this summer. She planned to skin them because of the weirdness of eating the black skin, but I didn't realize the meat of a silkie was dark too! Needless to say, I have a freshly processed silkie in my fridge for dinner tomorrow (it was too weird for her) and she's looking for new homes for the other two roosters. Anyone in western PA interested in a pair of silkie roosters? They are large fowl sized, much bigger than I thought silkies usually get, but they do have the extra toe, silkie feathers, black skin and all of the other silkie characteristics. I think when she picked them up from her friend she was told there were French something Silkies??? She obviously doesn't care if you just want to process them and eat them too. FREE. Beaver County.

If you have need for flock protectors I have extra roosters I would be glad to give you... 1 or even 2 would do the job. We will be butchering them as extras in the next couple of weeks but there are a couple who could easily go to a new home ;)

Thanks but I'll pass, were going to get some in the spring. I pick a breed and get straight run :)

Where ever did you find those? Were they hiding behind your garage?? :gig
Told DH that they were on the side of the road. Couldn't just leave em there.

Very cute...

Looking good!
I love that you will be making these hard-to-find breeds available to people in your area. I have found lots of enthusiasm for rare breeds, who doesn't want something that is just a bit more special if they can get it. Why "settle" for a hatchery EE if you can get at Cream Legbar like your beauty to lay those blue eggs.
