White? I thought you can't sex california grey until they feather out. Or you can really tell from the white dots on their heads?
I sure would like to have one if I can buy a house next year. I don't know what's my company doing now by simply giving up 30 million dollar new buildings and a good stable long time market. We were one of the departments doing the best until the bosses decided to destroy it. I may need to find another job next year, but I don't know yet. Whenever I stablized, I will restart my flock. Hopefully, I will not be too far from you, since we love your birds so much.

Cali Greys are sexable by the head spots. I wasn't certain but my guesses were right and I ended up keeping just pullets, after I had my 1 cockerel for next year breeding pen It's not as easy to tell as the autosexing or sexlinked chickens, but not too hard once you've seen a few of both sexes as chicks. I won't hatch a lot of them because white egg layers are not that popular compared to the more "exotic" colors.
 
Today I moved over 40 pullets inside to their winter housing today. The Jill Rees pullets are looking really, really nice.
I also got a huge amount of leaves dropped off and bedded down the main coop about a foot deep. The birds loved it!
But I am so tired and sore now . . .

No snow here but the temps drops 20 degrees and the winds started....around 35kts......a couple of hours later the cold rain started....still have to go outside and get the last of the peppers and tomatoes in.....last of the last....

its sleeting now.....the solution is a warm toddy....keep warm.......
