That's great about the MWs, that I can safely raise some poults for a few generations. I would definitely love to raise some poults and sell them later in the season. The broody was still stuck tight in the coop tonight, although she moved to a nesting box with a lot of eggs. I was able to collect the eggs with my fingers still intact.

. So I just keep a few turkey eggs on the counter for about a week and then put them under her all at once correct?

Can you hatch turkeys and chickens together? I know turkey eggs take about 28 days, but could you put some extra chicken eggs under her on day 7 or 8? Has anyone here tried that before?
So glad Buttercup is making a comeback! They are tough critters!

I've noticed poults don't hatch at exactly 28 days, for me it was more often 26 or 27. That makes it tricky to line up the hatch dates, but it's worth a try.

She is till holding tight, so I will give her a few turkey eggs once I get some more. Should I keep them on the kitchen counter until I have about 4? Or can I use the two I have in the fridge also? I know they don't stay fertile for too long.

The ones in the fridge are likely still good. Turkey eggs store a little better than other poultry, I've heard of people getting good fertility with month-old eggs.

GM all:

Just read a report that stated that the poorest county in the state is Philadelphia....quite unusual as most states have their poorest county's being rural.....

Oops, just checked and saw that I gave that to hubby for breakfast. Should've checked to make sure it was fertile! It will probably be good that I have to wait a week for more turkey eggs, to make sure she is stubborn enough. Here is the offender....

She is pretty!
I hope she hatches out a little group of turkey poults. MW turkeys are still pretty rare, but becoming better known. I think you should try to hatch as many as you can . . .
