Arg! Not long after I wrote this, I heard the turkey making a funny noise. I didn't think much of it. Then when I looked out about a half hour later, one of her chicks was limping badly, not wanting to put any weight on it's one leg. Poor little thing. I tried to examine him but I didn't see any external wounds. He then started to just lay down and rest, eventually closing his eyes. I hope we don't lose him. :(. I made sure he and the other one and Mama got safely in the coop. Unfortunately I have a long day tomorrow, and I will be gone from 7:30 to 10:00.

If I lose that one, the other will be so lonely. They scream whenever they are separated already. :/. I guess we will have to see...

Aurora, the chicks are doing well, and very friendly. We did loose 1 on the second or 3rd day. We don't know what happened but found it out on the sand floor near the door. It is possible it got caught under her foot when she was scratching and hit the door and was stunned and got chilled where it landed. No way to know for sure.
As much as I love the broodies I have seen chicks sent flying on more than one occasion when they get in the way of their mama's scratching. Scares the heck out of me each time I see it but they get tossed a foot or so, bounce back onto their feet and race right back under her, lol... I suspect that it was just an unfortunate set of circumstances this time.

I know we can't go into the coop without being greated by the whole gang of chick begging for treats! They are constantly under our feet when we are out there. Poor Brownie has to run to keep up with them because they sure aren't waiting for her!
 
@dheltzel , I have a friend here that may also be interested in a couple chicks when the chicken train comes through. I imagine it depends on the breed, but how soon would she need to put in a chick reservation request? She didn't say which breed(s) she's interested in, but I imagine she'll want to stick with autosexing breeds since she's in the city here under the same no rooster rule I am.
 
And, a few pics from the weekend...

I finally got my first olive eggs from Hazel, the Welsummer x Legbar. :) I'm very pleased with them, and her.






And, Ms. Chamomile, my EE, will officially turn 8 years old on Wednesday (I looked back at my records to find her hatch date)! After those two near death experiences recently, she is back out with the flock and looking good.

And here are just a couple more pics--such a nice weekend to do some yard work, and watch the girls enjoy a little dust bathing and messing up the mulch we just put down.

GREAT Photos! Camille was indeed a sweet looking chick, I'm glad she's doing well. I hear ya on the mulch...seems like they can't wait to undo what's been done.

I'm glad they're doing good for you :) I'm sorry you lost one but at least the others are doing well. Friendly is a big plus :) I pulled all the SPR eggs yesterday after one last check. 2 are still in though, dancing away in the eggs. You have my hoping for 1 roo now just for the friendly and "motherly" factor lol

Gorgeous girls. I wish mine looked that fluffy. I have 1 that has no tail feathers (she was a rescue with many health problems), and 1 that has a messed up back from our rooster who is no longer here. The rest are ok tho, thankfully!
