Good job Merida! First egg from our @dheltzel Silver Welbar. She's one of the loudest in the coop, and she was even louder today coming out of the nesting box. Hope it's not an April fool and she starts to lay regularly.

No muscovies yet. Just the Welsh Harlequins.when and where does the chicken train travel? And do you have white muscovys for sale? Have my heart set on them since motorcycle chick told me I may have purchase them from tsc. I looked into the breed an fell in love. My ducks did turn out to be pekin. Their legs and beams are orange now.
So pretty--both the hen and the egg! Thanks for posting!
Thanks @hyzenthlay! Our CCL "Ohagi" is the same age so I'll post when she lays her first egg too. She's a lot more timid than brave Merida.
How many weeks old are they, if you know? I'm interested to know about when the Welbars and CCLs start to lay.
My OE (Welsummer x CCL) that just started laying was 28 weeks old, at least a month later than the Buff Orp that hatched on the same day. It was worth the wait, though.![]()
She has just a bit of a pouf, hardly enough to call a crest. But she is hatchery bred, so even her CCL parent probably wouldn't have anything close to the crest on one of dheltzel's CCLs. These are Hazel's pics from last weekend, right after her first egg.Hi @hyzenthlay. Hatch date for both was Friday, September the 9th. So 29wks 1 day.
Do you have a picture of your Olive Egger? Just wondering if it gets a full CCL crest, or half sized crest?
Very pretty! Lovely flecks of gold in her neck. She looks brown, I was expecting more of a grey. Thanks for sharing the pictures of Hazel!
