That is a lot of house, but great property...I would put a park model camper on the property for myself and rent out the house for a grand a month...

To those of you who incubate, I bought a new incubator and it came with a turner. It came fully assembled, but it had directions on how to assemble it. Is there anything else I need to do? I don't hear it running, and I can't tell if it was turning when I was warming up the bator.


Eek. I came home and checked my meat chicks to find one dead. No big deal, it happens. But I had put my Langshan chicks (2) and my turkey chick in with them so they would have more company. I figured I would be okay until this weekend, until I could build some outdoor housing for the meat chicks. Unfortunately, one of the Langshan chicks is missing, which means it was eaten. :sick. Well, now they are unhappily separated. They may be lonely, but better off lonely than dead.

Edited: She was faking me out. The girl on the right had laid an egg and now went back to bed with the other girls. Thought I had heard her making the broody noise earlier though. 3 is enough for now!

I am in the same boat! I have 3 broody hens. I'm trying to break 2 and just let the silkie/Cochin mix sit on a handful of fertile eggs, since I have so many Langshan/Java, now. But, every time I turn around, Big Blue (English Orphington) is sitting on top of Little Blue (silkie/Cochin mix) and now Griselda (Lavender English Orphington) has joined in the box.

The turners in those move EXTREMELY slow. You won't be able to see it move so don't panic. If the turner is plugged in, check on it in an hour and it will be in a different spot.

I'm sorry about your babies but sometimes, it's better for them to just deal with being lonely.

My poor girl curly has a bad eye. I just noticed it tonight, and I look them over pretty often, so I don't think she has had it long. I isolated her tonight and applied Vetrx. She only has a puffy eye with some discharge, no sneezing, coughing or runny nose.

I just saw this thread and I would love to get some .Ciprofloxacin drops, but I don't have a Vet that will write me a script for my chicken. Hopefully the Vetrx will help instead. :/

I don't know if Terramycin will help or not but you could check your local TSC to see if they have any in. It's like neosporin for eyes.
