Curly's eye looks almost 100% better. That Vetrx stuff is incredible.

Here is her good eye on the left, and her boo boo eye. She is now fully broody too. :D

To my experienced chicken owners. My broody hen was sitting on her eggs and today i noticed yolk all over the eggs. Should i discard these eggs?

That happens sometimes, as long as they aren't completely covered I would just leave them alone...you can switch them out if it is really early on but I wouldn't after the first week if it was mine.

Thx Fisherlady for your response. It was getting dark so i couldnt see all eggs very well. Im hoping they are viable. Shes been on them for about 5 to 6 days.

A couple questions for u guys. #1-Should I buy a Coop with a run or without one? #2-and how big of a free range area should I make and what type of wire and should I use bird netting for the top? Thanks guys

With is always good. A run, or the outside area required for good health, should be 8-10 square feet per chicken. The smaller the holes in the fencing, the fewer problems. Buy what you can afford.
If you can get 1/4" hardware cloth, you won't have any predators getting in or reaching in. You also won't have wild birds killing themselves trying to remember how they got through the fence.

If you put a roof on, you will have no worries about aerial attacks.

I learned something new today...A fight between a broody duck and a broody hen who both want the same nest is not pretty. Ana and Ebony are both getting serious about brooding and up until now how been either sorting together in the nest or taking turns on it. Well this morning they both decoded that they wanted it for themselves and were fighting over it. Sky jumped in for a lorie tag team action to help Ana out but there was no clear winner. Both ended up kicking duck fluff up everywhere and tumbling out. We'll see who's in it later. Nobody looked hurt though.

I had to chuckle at your description of events after reading no real harm was done...broodies are a force of nature for sure, and I don't have ducks, so I can only imagine how much more intense that would make it. Sounds like separate corners are called for though, since eggs would suffer in the fray. Though as often as you hatch I would just graft them after a couple of weeks so they would quit hogging a nest box. :)
