Ana is a mama again! Little Crackle (silkie mix) hatched this evening. I was going to name the baby something to do with Oregon since that's when she started sitting but my son decided to try to "help" her hatch earlier and ended up cracking the entire shell. There was blood and I was afraid that she wouldn't make it so I finished her or in the incubator. She's now back out under her mom and looking good.

Welcome, from Cambria county! What do you have and what can we talk you in to lol

HAHAHAH! I currently don't have any. We are getting ready to move to our homestead and we are still undecided about which breeds would be best for our family. We have 2 small children so docile is preferred. I know my kids want at least 1 Silkie but I've heard mixed things about them being able to tolerate the cold weather we get. We are open to ideas tho ;)

Hello. Looking for advice, I'm in SE PA and got my first little bunch of chickens. Unfortunately of the sexed chickens one was a rooster. He was a late bloomer but is now definitely all Roo!

He's a Rhode Island and probably eatable, but I have no interest in eating or processing him. But I wouldnt mind if anyone else did it. Any advice where to go from here? I put him up on Craigslist but got no interest.

There's not chicken hit men are there?? Just kidding!! (Kinda)

I have a friend that lives here in Pottstown that takes my unwanted roos for eating. Depending on how far you are, we could work something out. I am about to call him to dispose of a few mixed breed cockerels, once I catch them.
