Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

I can see the stadium lights of OJR from my front porch.

I have these colors of standard bred Ameraucanas:
Black
Lavender
Silver
Silkied (Lavender and soon blacks)
Bantams - Lavender and maybe silvers if my pair comes through :fl

Cool! DO you have pics of the Blacks and Lavs? Both smooth and silkied? Super interested in getting some from you! Do you have an email?

well the roo is still not crowing. The way he's all hunched in, maybe wry neck? He isn't stargazing but he's slightly tilted now. Tempted to bring him inside for a bit to see if he perks up with some attention.
Still only one hen laying. Any day now, I expect the others to start up again.

I want to go to the farm show! Maybe I can talk the boss into it.

Hoping Niko goes broody (and the roo isn't too broken to do his bit) this spring. Need replacement layers at this point.

Too funny! We are basically neighbors! :) I am right by OJR high school. What color Ameraucanas do you have? Will check out your site in a sec. I do want to get some new Amers for this year! Probably more lavs/black splits, but may be interested in BBS too.

I don’t have pics of the polish, they were shipped eggs, but will deff take a bunch once they hatch *fingers crossed*!

@dheltzel's website isn't always the most up to date. Which is a good thing, because he's spending time hatching and caring for his animals. If you want to know what he has, the best thing to do is contact him here. Sometimes we can first dibs here on new and exciting things!

I will be at the Farm Show on Monday, unless the weather looks too bad. I haven't looked at the maps, will there be a bigger poultry display this year? Last year's was disappointingly small, though better than nothing.

I don't put some of the "really cool" breeds on the website. I don't necessarily want the world to know I have Genetic Hackles, for example, or the new breeds that I only have a pair or 2 of and don't know if I will have any to sell.

My flock is going to be thrilled! I dug out some peach and tomato scraps that we saved when we were canning. I'm heating them up and adding some oats for some special oatmeal :)

That is a treat. My girls are all stuck in the coop. Hopefully the turkeys have not been too nasty to the chickens. No one wanted to come out this morning, and I was nervous about the fox making a visit when I wasn't home.

We'll see what state they are in when I get home, lol.

My birds sure enjoy some cracked corn on a cold afternoon. I left the lid off the bucket and the 3 free ranging toms helped themselves to a treat. I feel bad for those guys (and the other free rangers) and make sure they get a bowl of liquid water on cold days and feed when the ground is snow covered.
