Nothing in the traps yet... :caf

Also toying with the idea of getting some additional layers this spring, since we have the space. We may have chicks if our rooster decides to mate with any of the girls, but not quite sure how those mixes will end up? :idunno
Lots of thinking to do!

@yoopergirl1211 SO good to see your updates, what a long way you've come! :jumpy

Good luck with the traps!
I don't go into the woods after varmints, but anything that makes the mistake of coming in the yard doesn't get a second chance, not worth the risk... we close our livestock up in barns, coops and fences, which removes their primary methods of protection (hiding and fleeing) so it is up to us to replace those protections by whatever means available.

This winter has been rough. I went out this morning and a dead chicken in nesting box. Sigh. It was cookie. One of my two Wyandotte/Welsummer crosses. It really sucks as she lays giant eggs. Two good laying hens dead in less then a month.

Sorry for your loss. It is tough to lose a bird. A few days ago I found 2 dead bantam pullets. They are small and seem to have tougher time with the cold. It made me sad to lose them, all the lavender ameraucana bantam pullets are naturally super tame. They are the only breed that will readily eat from my hand with to special training.
