Dear lord my german isn't that good for that last calculator and everything is way too complex. So I have my Bantam roo "Little Butt," he's a Splash Cochin (yes the one in my profile picture), well he fancies Robin my Red Sex Link (she's technically a gold something or other but she's really just a red sex link). What the heck am I gonna get if I hatch some of her eggs??

*EDIT*: Okay just double checked it, she's a Golden Comet.

Depends on her parent source, I thought gold comets were a cross between a Rhode Island Red and a leghorn? If that is the case you have a much broader range of genetic possibilities. 1st generation crosses are predictable because of more stable/known genetics, but a cross as a parent will rarely throw a chick which is just the same as the cross parent. Basically crosses aren't known to 'breed true' though that next generation may have quite a few of their traits.
So to answer your question I would try to determine the parentage of your comet and then try using those 2 breeds in the calculator to combine with your splash roo. Then expect chicks to be combinations of the answers the calculator provided.

So DH sent me this picture, he was checking coop cameras on work computer and saw this, so it is a picture of the comp screen, hence the haziness.

We decided to call it...
Morning meeting of The Egg Layers Union, Coop 101. ..
We think they were voting on who got to go in the nest boxes next....

Very cute! I can't attempt anything like this. Chickens poop EVERYWHERE. Wish I could have a super clean coop :idunno

:gig 4 of my chickens sleep up on the roost w/poop board under, but my little silkie sleeps in the nest box, so the nest box hasn't been too messy. I was considering using something like scotch guard on the fabric, but I don't have any. We'll see how it holds up!

That's awesome! I have to do that soon too, but I think I am going to use magnets, since mine will be attached to the metal nesting box.
Nice! I just used a velcro strip sewn to the curtain and the other strip stapled to the nest box. Pepper laid an egg yesterday (my first in months) and was so noisy today trying to lay for an hour. I figured with the new setup my hens might feel a bit out in the open and without their usual privacy from their old coop... Point and case seen here with Pepper trying to lay with a very nosey Tiny:

And happy to report that after a short period of confusion, Tiny made it to bed and is quite cozy (and adorable)!

Also as a sidenote: I haven't caught anything in the traps I had setup... I noticed one went off and I checked... And nothing, except my bait was taken  I haven't seen any more signs of the mink, but will try resetting traps tomorrow.
