I'm so very sorry :hugs Pets are such endearing members of the family. It's so hard to lose them.

Anne, I am sorry he passed...please know you are a wonderful pet parent, we all can miss signs sometimes and birds are so adept at hiding symptoms it is even harder to catch things early. You provide your animals with love and care every day and they know it! :hugs

I'm so sorry for those that have lost pets. I know how hard it is. We all go through those tough times. :hugs

I sell my eggs at $2 a dozen and have a lot of people wanting eggs. Someone asked me to set aside 6 dozen for her! My husband complains sometimes because I sell so many, I forget to save some for ourselves!

Thanks everybody, the past two weeks I have been dealing with a bad reaction to some medication and an overdose death in the family. This is probably how my parrot got overlooked.

Oh, I am so sorry Anne for both horrible losses and the medication problem.
Birds are really really tough. Please don't blame yourself. My experience has always been that birds have evolved to be so wonderful at hiding illness to survive, that by the time you know they are sick, it is too late. Especially parrots --which are really not domesticated.

You are human! And dealing with so many things in a short time would be overwhelming for anyone. Your love for your animals is obvious to all of us here, and your enjoyment of them is contageous... I hope things calm down for you soon, that is an awful lot to deal with.

What a sad day. My African Grey is sick, most likely with Aspergillosis. I have been so busy lately, I didn’t realize he had lost some weight. He was having trouble breathing yesterday, and today it was much worse. So we took him to the emergency vet, which was of course very expensive. Blood tests should confirm, but the vet is pretty sure that is what we are dealing with.

Treatment is prolonged, and not guaranteed to work. :hmm
keep your fingers crossed, had a english parakeet that got that and he pulled thru. will be thinking of you, i lost my grey after 33 years and my husbands is now in her 30's, tough birds

Well I just got a call from the vet that our little parrot passed away. I was concerned that maybe I transmitted the Aspergillosis to my parrot from my chickens, but the vet said all birds are exposed to it. My parrot must have had an underlying health problem that caused it to get out of hand.

I feel like such a bad pet owner. Looking back, there were signs he was not acting completely normal. :hit

@Lelanae Thanks for the kind words, and so sorry for your loss also. Looks like he had a nice long life with you.
so sorry

:wootLittle Miss Squirrel went to our local wildlife rescue today. I had not seen her pee or poo, and I read they have to be coaxed to do it.

The rescue had SO many baby squirrels! They estimate mine was about 4-5 weeks old. They said at this age, they will climb towards anything bigger, thinking that it’s a Mama. In a few weeks that changes, apparently. She is in good hands, when working, I don’t have the time to bottle feed. :)
