Thank you guys SO much for the help. Our chick with wry neck is all better now! I will continue to give her vitamin E daily for a month and then see if she has a relapse. They're all ready to go to the big coop next weekend! :clap

So this isn't chicken related, but I have a question. We're not supposed to kill bees, so what am I supposed to do with carpenter bees living in the sides of my house? Or other wasps/yellow jackets around my kids stuff outside? I don't want to kill them this year but worry about how bad it will get.
 
I do my best to make it unwelcoming for bees in areas closest to the house. Remove standing water or food sources and often spraying a repellent on eaves. Research the specific bees you are dealing with to find a deterrent you are comfortable with.
Like most critters, bees have a job in the ecosystem and often we are the ones who screw up the balance of things... so find a good balance for your place and go with that.
 
Chicken question! So I had 2 blue/green egg layers, I crossed one with an orpington, the other with a RIR, and the offspring both lay blue/green eggs. If we continued to cross them with any other breed of rooster, will the offspring always lay blue/green? I always assumed the egg color would fade to brown but just curious! Thanks!

They got corn for their birthday. Duckling wanted to give them an ice cream cake. She began singing Happy Birthday, but stopped when she realized it was not a normal thing. :lol:
 
Pretty cool program! I can understand how therapeutic it could be, there is just something innocently entertaining about spending time with them. Goodness knows I can come home from a rough shift at work and unwind in the coops....I may still be tired but the mental stress certainly lightens up with a bit of watching the birds!
