First, Amazon does sell egg aprons for children, but by the knees is a stupid place to put eggs on anyone, especially a child! Anyway, LMP, you might want to get out your sewing machine/needle and thread or even fabric glue, and make an apron for your Bug’s Easter basket.
Second, I just saw a post from another member describing something we probably all need at one time or another! A run gap filler!! It’s like a draft guard for the run! ( I will now stop exclaiming everything ) Make a few fabric tubes and pillows, and fill with sand or gravel. When you find a gap that you cannot get to right away (or just don’t want escapes from the tractor), you can just squish one against/in the gap.

Man, we didn't get any snow, just some rain, which has now turned to a sheet of ice. ugh. So Friday night we went to Green Dragon and came home with 3 more females.. Yesterday we went to my husbands parent's house, when we came back we were taking care of the ducks and one is missing.. ugh i started panicking a little, looking all over in both coops for her, no sign. No feathers anywhere, no signs of struggle.. finally I look in the creek with the neighbors ducks and there she is just floating about having the time of her life.. So now, we need to hatch a plan to get her back. her name is now houdini since she seems to be a little escape artist. Her sister is upset and keeps quacking for her to come home.

I hope you're able to get her back! Do your neighbor's ducks go in a coop? Maybe ask the neighbor to help you catch her in the evening?

That's a good idea! Maybe it could be a use for old feed bags laying around... Speaking of seeing, I need to get busy. I have a bunch of turkey/hen saddles cut out and just waiting to be out together. I have to wait till my interfacing gets here in the mail, then I'll be getting them done. I'd rather have a stockpile ready to go before the spring rush!

I assume that you have a baby pool for them, and it is not filled during the winter. Going with that assumption, maybe fill it, and the others swimming and splashing will entice her to return.
This idiot didn’t empty the pool because I didn’t want to do it too soon. I’m sure I’ll need a new pool in the spring.
The neighbor’s yard floods all the time. Some of those ruts are deep! I’ve given up on keeping my ducks out of the puddles. However, they always come home at night.

We do not have a kiddie pool in the winter. We also just built the pen and coops and have only had the majority of our ducks for a little over a week. So we haven't completely finished everything. we are going to fill it with pea gravel and then sand. Part of the area that they are in is a low laying area and forms its own pond, but we will be putting in a more permanent fixture so that I can also save the duck water to use in my garden and flower beds.

No they don't even have a coop for their chickens. they all just roost on their playset and the ducks just hang out wherever or in the creek. They barely feed their animals. I'm more worried that when I try to catch her they are going to think I'm trying to steal one of their ducks.

Just a tub/lrg.bucket/pail, rubber or metal is needed, I used a lrg. rubber feeding tub,...some nice warm water, (not too deep, not teaching chickens how to swim), maybe a drop of eo's w/ baby castile soap..if it is chilly, definitely should be done indoors, but if it is nice outside, I would recommend doing it there. To dry them-up, can use towels, maybe even a hairdryer...yeah, I've been there
The girls sometimes get extra dirty bums and it just looks so nasty. I like to see clean-fluffy butts thank you very much
Good Luck & have fun...**warning, some chickens do NOT appreciate the effort used to HELP them stay healthy & looking good.., you may be pecked, scratched, flogged..etc...all of this makes for great neighbor entertainment though!

Thank you! I'm in the southern part of the county. I live out in the booneys, but the nearest larger town to me is Mount Union. I've been to 1000 steps a few times myself too!
