HEY GANG! I'm alive and slightly frozen, BUT I'm doing okay!
Finally decided to pop back in all things considered. I will admit that I lost my mojo last summer when I lost my two favorite roos, and well I'll be honest the care of my birds suffered because of it. I'm not proud of that.
But, I'm getting better and going out there and I literally just got in from feeding them just now. It's cold. Did I mention it's cold? CAUSE It'S COOOOLD!
Well, I've had quite the development today. In the form of this:
Yes... that's right. Those are goose eggs. Sophie made a nest and laid 3 beautiful (if not poop covered) eggs in the coop. In the middle of February. I checked the temperature on them with my hands before deciding whether it would be better to take them or not and I can firmly say that they are cold and she has not been sitting on them as far as I can tell. I'm gonna play it safe, get the brinsea up and running, and let them thaw for at least 24 hours. I'm not sure when she laid these (I'm thinking probably sometime in the last couple of days.) So my fingers are firmly crossed and I'm praying for a miracle.
That being said if anyone has any updated info on hatching goose eggs from the last time I tried to do this (which it didn't work and they were all duds... I was not happy about that). Please let me know!
Anyways, Hello to anyone new! I'm Jack the crazy idiot with the chickens. Wait... that's not very descriptive... I'll come up with something! Hope ya'll are doing well and everyone's staying warm. I'm glad I'm back.
