WELP! Today's been quite the adventure. Susan went out to check the birds and found our Splash Am, Sweet Pea wasn't doing so hot. So she brought her in for a bit. Unfortunately she didn't make it

However while we were out getting nutridrench and supplies to take care of her, we popped into TSC anddd they have their ducklings. 4 Golden 300s (Which are Metzer's Hybrid Laying ducks) and 1 Rouen (for me of course).

Candled the goose eggs... all of them were still clear, we cracked them all open and none of them were fertile. :hitThis has me really sad. HOWEVER! Susan did find 3 more goose eggs while she was out checking on the birds, so I have those three in the incubator now :fl I'm hoping and praying that these are fertile I just really want to hatch my own goslings.

sounds like you did have quite the adventure today.
Sorry for your loss.:( Love the name she had.
Fingers crossed for your goose eggs!:fl Hopefully you will have a few to hatch out.
Have fun with the new little ones, they will keep you even busier.
We have running water through the new property, maybe ducks will be in our future, sooner rather than later.;)..does make things a bit easier, that is MY theory anyway..don't ask the DH yet though, he needs more sweetening to the thought!

Hello. I’m from PA living in AZ but moving back in the next year. I’ll be moving to York county. Just wondering what the rooster laws are if anyone knows. I currently have silkies I’m breeding. Thx

Welcome back!! There shouldn't be any rooster restrictive laws in York that I know of, however that's a township by township basis so wherever you're moving to check the township ordinances and see what they say.

Thanks Purdy, yeah she literally kicked it right in our arms it was really sad. I wound up calling her that one day when I had to catch her (she'd flown out of the run) and I was trying to calm her down (it was when I found the blue roo that was killed by the "owl" and she was so freaked out). I just kept calling her Sweet Pea and it kinda stuck.

I'm praying these hatch, I know Sophie isn't anywhere near show quality and Klaus needs a bit of work, but you've gotta start somewhere. And I would love nothing more than to be able to hatch a few, pick the ones I want to keep and then sell any extras.

Susan and I just vent sexed the ducklings we got (after watching John Metzer's video on youtube) andddd it looks like we have 1 girl... and 4 boys (including my possible Rouen)!

It's alright, we're planning on a Sandhill order anyways (especially now!!)

oh my, that is so sad. You were there for her, giving her comfort. That is more than most birds get for sure!
Everyone has to start where they can, and if that means a bit more work, well then so be it. It is the enjoyment of the journey. The adventure of it all!
I try to remind myself of that mid way through projects when the work seems to be never ending, the body has been overloaded, and we start to question our sanity:p
I really do hope you get fortunate with your goose eggs, that would be great.
I hear they can be very "dog-like" in their personalities, follow you around & they make great yard security.
We have definitely convinced ourselves that pullets will be the best way to go this year. Because of sending the majority to freezer camp.
We will have less "egg-wait" time. Will still find a little someone for Cordon to care for, she is a very good mamma.
We have a great Wyandotte breeder 'close', hour- hour & half, ( state college), but
Would like to see about some Orpingtons , DH thinks they would be fun to watch do their thing in the yard. We do enjoy the fluffy butts.:D
*I would REALLY like to add some colored eggs to the carton.
