I saw another possum wandering around the coops the other day so I went on a search for a trap. I didn't want to spend $70 on a new one. Found one for $20 on Facebook marketplace! @BullChick , I drove basically right by you yesterday going to pick it up. I had success on the first night, YES!

If anyone else needs one of these traps, I picked mine up at Harbor Freight for a song. I think they have them all the time.

:caf You forgot to drop off my chicks. :caf
I have not used mine in a while. If there are too many varmints, and you want/need to, you can borrow it.

Thanks. We'll see what the next few nights bring. I blame the passing of our older dogs over the past couple years. I think their scent kept unwanted critters away but now that it's fading, they're coming around. My guess anyway.

BTW you said you didn't want more chicks ;)

Even with me making sure the little guy got water and food. I found him dead under the heat plate. So I only have 2 left from the hatching. 1 olive egger and 1 copper maran. I know the olive egger is a girl. Hoping the copper maran is a girl too.
On the bright side in a couple weeks I will be getting 12 buff orpington ( hope I spelled it right)
sorry he didn't make it.
when they have so many issues, seems the best nature taking it's course.
Still not easy to deal with :hugs
I'm sorry :( I wish you were closer, I would load you up with chicks! I have too many!
Did I just read that right?....TOO MANY??....didn't think that was possible:smack..;)

I cannot look down a chicken's throat... they resist too much! Anyhow, yesterday she finally ate some scrambled eggs and started standing and walking around her cage. No longer sleeping all day. I moved her to the garage isolation area to continue to improve. When she lays an egg, I'll know she's ready to go back with the others in the coop. Not 100% sure that she's ok but the improvement is great, so fingers crossed! :fl

glad to hear the improvement!! Yes, fingers crossed for sure :fl!
I know they don't like when we try to help them...checking them out takes practice, hahaha..guess I look them over too much:oops:...:lau. I understand...Had to learn to get them to open their mouths for testing & dosing. ( when one has an issue) Not something you do often truthfully.
The dog broke another cable last night, so I’m going to put a rope/leash/check cord I have tied together (from other escapes) through an old hose. :rant Obnoxious dog.
The birds were all insane this morning, so chores took over an hour. I slid down the muddy hill, so I’ve had my danger for the day. Still no quail eggs.

have you though of using chain?...doesn't have to be huge gauge..we had a very spirited springer that used to stay outside for the most oart, awesome dog, we had to use chain..he was too strong for rope, he would chew too & those thin wired-lines for tie outs.

I don’t want more chicks.
Hi, I’m Meebrong. :caf
I don’t want more chicks.
I lost my hand for about fifteen minutes, and I was “lucid.”
I don’t want more chicks.
I’ve lost my hand numerous times, and my head too.
I don’t want more chicks.
I need some ee & dark chocolate.
You said I lost my chance.
I don’t want more chicks.
No quail eggs yet. I still have not counted the Pharoah boys and girls. I need to take out those extra boys at least.

I’ve used chain, and was yesterday for a while. He gets it tangled tightly around his leg, and still pulls. I’m afraid he will break his leg. There was something inside the old hose, and the chain was not going through it. By the time I began cutting up the hose, I just put a rope through it. If this dog wants to act like a goat, I will treat him like one.
If he manages to ruin this tie out too, I will buy a better chain, and use a new hose to put it through.

:lau He is so unhappy. If he moves wrong, the hose isn’t under his chin. At least he has not gotten tangled again ... yet.
