To get the chicks to come to you, really just giving them treats lets them know that you are the treat dispenser. However, a dedicated container (coffee can, peanut jar...) shaken and/or calling to them gets their little tails running.

she is spot on! They will run you down when they know you have the treat container!

I finally found the missing duck eggs. When I counted them, I counted eleven, plus saw one a foot or so outside the nest. This evening I uncovered the area, and while I couldn’t find the dud egg, there’s 14 in the nest now. I obviously miscounted, but I’m unsure if one was laid since this morning or not.
Regardless, I don’t know who’s doing it for sure, and I don’t eat many of the duck eggs anyway. I’m waiting a few more days to see if someone sits.

there's a Starbucks in Altoona at Barnes and Nobel. We don't go there though. We go to the Clay Cup or Green Beans

I jinxed it! We have a broody. Tell me again how Pekin don’t go broody. Last year I blamed it on the Muscovy setting the tone. Now?
I’m not stopping her, but I am hoping Aretha takes over. I don’t want anymore ducks unless they are her’s.
