I have a happy trio of chickens in the run, and nine confused quail in the coop. I went back and forth about how and where I was putting the quail in the big coop. I finally went with the large (or x large) dog crate without the pan/right on the bedding. There’s a sheet on top because I know the chickens will poop up there. I don’t want the poo to crush a quail.

Hey pa peeps...I’ve purchased twice now light Brahma pullets 1st batch 2 for 2 cockerels ‍♀️ 2nd batch at 5 weeks lookin like 2 for 4 cockerels ‍♀️ I’m looking for pullets....kiddos have a project planned and need them laying by spring. 2nd batch they will replace but not until 10 weeks. And I’m not wanting chicks in the house! Anyone have any pullets for sale?

That sounds like the ideal setup. We use a large wire dog crate for any separations as needed. Very useful! :)
