Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

There's not too much progress on our coop. We have most parts of the wall on, then had to stop due to a huge pine tree fell down and damaged our fence. Then we found about 6 more dead trees needed to be taken down. :barnie Of course, the chain saw broke down during the process. At least we have most of the trees taken care of. I'm hoping to have all the wall and doors up and painted by this weekend, because I'll be on a business trip next weekend and then it will be thanksgiving.

Hi everyone! I've been on byc for years but never posted to the state thread. I'm in Greenville (by Ohio, about halfway between Erie and Pittsburgh). I'm looking to adopt a NICE rooster who will be a pet here. We have 12 hens, ducks and geese. Just rehomed our rooster (to the woman he came from who basically has a chicken retirement home) because he started charging me and the kids. Over the years we have had two very sweet pet roos, one a Brahma "Nigel" and another a Cochin "Mr. Rooster ". I'd really like another well mannered guy for our flock. Craigslist posting has only turned up roosters an hour away. Is there anyone local who has a nice extra roo that needs a good home?

I know I'm more than an hour away (2 or 3) but I have several very well mannered sweet guys who could use a good home. I have to cut my flock size down further than I wanted to. My DH was just laid off today so extra boys have to move out or make the trip to the freezer.

Sadly the distance is the thing :( I'm a stay at home mom and can't drive 2 little ones all over the state for a rooster pick up. I really hope things work out and you find homes for them. I have had luck in the past selling nice roosters to people who want them (oh the irony) so maybe that's an idea? Thanks for replying though:)

Ducks are doing good. I am down to 14 now. But I have 4 males, I dont think I need that many lol. So now I need to figire out what male I want and find homes for the other 3.

So sorry to hear that. I know job opportunity is not very good at your area. Maybe your DH want to consider traveling further to work at nearby cities? I know many people vanpool from Altoona to State College.

Anyone nearby interested in some birds? I need to downsize a bit. I processed 4 extra roos today and have 4 hens available and a trio of penciled/semi penciled turkeys available.

Check out the size of this roo! This one of my big English orpington roos. His son is replacing him in the breeding pen. He was a big guy! He barely fit between 2 gallon ziplock bags!
