You could put clear plexiglass on the top. It’s slippery and easier to clean, maybe even make it removable for easy washing. Beautiful job!

Thanks... Mindy loves watching her chicks, and those hens love being broodies, so it's a win/win for everyone.

I don't think there's egg eaters. If there were, I'd see some evidence. Also, the 2 fake eggs are not being messed with at all. This time 2 years ago (thank you facebook memories) they started laying again. So I think they just went on vacation early.

The chickens (and quail) were happy to see me this morning. They were all screaming about frozen water. I miss having electric in the coop, but I still didn’t use heated bowls unless I went away.
The new group seems just as comfortable as the others. Steven hasn’t said a word (stop laughing, animals talk) about wanting to go back into the other pen. He’s either old and tired, or content with the group he has.

I think my Jersey Giant hen is broody! I don’t know for sure yet, I’m too new at this. Caught her moodily sitting an unknown number of eggs secreted behind a crate between the nesting boxes and the wall (where I can’t get at them). I hope she can keep them, but I am concerned about the temperature. Apparently my heated coop is still below freezing, as their waterer is solid. I hope she knows what she’s doing, it’s her first time.
