Hey guys, a question. I want to get a few (FEW) chicks from Stoltzfus Feed in Gap, PA because they deal with Meyer Hatchery and I love their RIRs and Barred Plymouth Rocks. They are cutting back severely on retail chicks this year, so I have to preorder. As long as I’m doing that, I figure I might as well special order the Silver Dorkings I want, but they require minimum 5 for special order, and I really only want 1 or 2. My question is, do you think I will have any luck reselling the 3 Dorking chicks I don’t want? I would rather try that than pay Meyer $35 for shipping, I just don’t know if there’s any demand for Dorking around here. The only other chicken owners I know locally are Amish, and they all buy from Freedom Ranger. I was thinking maybe get 2 boys and 4 girls, so I can keep a trio and sell a trio. Any thoughts?

My Dad passed away at 9:30 last night. He went very peacefully, at home and surrounded by family. He had increasing trouble breathing the last few weeks and was ready for this.
I am so sorry Dennis. He was so lucky to be so surrounded by love.
My mom (age 95) has been hospitalized 5 times in the last month and I am so hoping to have her back at home with us.

STAKE (previous member to this thread) used to keep Dorkings, he raved about their gentle personalities. I remember that they were hard to come by. I would suggest that any chicks you order to sell should be female.

I would love to buy one or two pulletDorking chicks!
Fascinating 5 toed breed that maybe the oldest breed still around.
I have some heritage barred rocks coming tomorrow in the mail. I haven’t had chicks shipped for years...I had a really bad experience. Crossing my fingers.

So, DH sent me this picture this morning....I caught a rat in my live trap. Usually it's just possums. I'm really hoping they don't have a nest really close...
