Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Spring is in the air! What are we hatching out? I am hatching out Silkies.
First blue copper marans of the year hatched yesterday! I have been trying to get more blues in my black copper pen. Just last week one of only 2 blue hens died, and I have no blue cockerels. Hopefully this year I can get more blues and next year have them (and splash) for sale.
Overall, the Marans have been doing great this year, laying and hatching better than in previous years.

I candled my duck eggs today. 😢 none will hatch. I guess I have to go buy some ducklings now.
If you get out my way, I have fertile eggs and will soon have ducklings. The Welsh Harlequins are the most fertile right now, but the Australian Spotted (bantams) are outlaying them so I will have more of those ducklings eventually.

I felt like this:celebrate:wee, until school texted me two minutes ago saying they are closed from 3/16! :th:he Both of us work full time. I have to come up a plan to have someone watching my son. We don't have any coronavirus here yet. I don't understand why they are closed. :hit

They said will get staff trained and come up an everyday clean up plan, but not determined if they will reopen after March 23. I guess time will tell. And people start panic right away. I went to sams to get a few items today, they lay disinfection wipes on every shopping cart. Disinfection items sold out. Lots of canned food sold out. Crazy.

Tilly, we probably do have it, but not enough people are being tested so we don't know for sure how many. Viruses don't respect the lines around states, and this virus is much more contagious and dangerous than flu. Hands away from the face, wash your hands, stay away from crowds, don't shake hands. Even if you aren't at risk for becoming deathly ill, if you get it, you can spread it to people at high risk.
Panic never helps, but information and precautions can.

Not to change the subject or anything but...NEW BABIES!!😄

These are dheltzel’s Marans. I’m guessing 5 boys 1 girl, we shall see. They are so adorable! I’m going to grow them out in the 2nd coop/run, and any nice girls will be added to my laying flock in the main run. My BC Marans from Kim Renninger (Dart) turned out to be a boy, so between her and Dennis’s, I’ll get the 1 breeding BCM I wanted, and finally have some well earned chicken dinner!😄 I am over the moon right now! I know it’s weird because everyone prays for layers, but I LOVE MEAT and have not yet had a chance to enjoy my own. Besides, they’re cuddly and cute and they are casting their magic spells over me and I cannot resist and I must not resist and I...😲...😵...🥴...:drool...:love

:lau I honestly am super pleased with my new bachelor group! Thank you!:wee
