Miss Piggy was the house pet on a pig farm I was nannying at. Ironically, the dogs and cats lived outside, and the meat pigs were slaughtered smaller than Miss Piggy. She kept the job interesting.

I got my babies from Dennis too.:weeThey all hide under premier 1 heating pad now and sleeping. I’ll try too take pictures tomorrow. I dipped everyone’s beak in water, but nobody was interested in drinking. I’ll check tomorrow morning and try again to show them. My last batch of chicks drank and ate right away. These guys are so different:confused:

Hmmm, mine sleep a lot too, all together in a pile. I thought it was just that mine got a little cold. They had an hour’s drive home. They seem to like to sleep all at once and get up all at once. I was worried at first, but the water and food are disappearing FAST. Who knows? Maybe God blesses Dennis for being so good to us, and his chicks are just very well-mannered! :love

I just checked them this morning. They are all happy under the heating pad. water is dirty, so they did drink and eat. We had 3 hours ride home, so everyone was tired. These chicks seem calmer than the batch I got before. Last time, when I put them down, everyone run around in panic. These didn't move at first and looked confused. I can easyly grab one by one and dip their beaks in water and put them under heating pad.

I had a heating pad under their box on the way home, but it's too hot for them and one opened mouth breath. so I turned off the heat, and they were all happy. I pet everyone of them, and was quite supprised that they all seem calm and all fell sleep in my hand. Last time, only Brownie enjoyed being pet, all others freaked out. I'm very happy about these girls' personality. Dennis did a great job to improve their personality.

I love the personalities I’m seeing in mine too. A nice level of calm vs rowdiness for any group of young boys! :love I hope they continue to get along well as they mature, because my grow out pen is a little small. I decided to let them keep their indoor brooder until they soil the litter, then they can join my other 3 Marans in the main brooder in the coop. Little Dart (Kim’s BC) sprouted a comb overnight, so I guess I’ll keep the best boy out of all of them and grow out the rest. If there are any with really excellent personalities though, I will try to find them good homes.

My Brahma Deco is in broody school!:love I filled the nest boxes with pine shavings for the first time last night (used to use newspaper), and have spent my morning helping my girls learn how to use them. Deco looked so interested I gave her a few eggs, one at a time, and she accepted them graciously. I don’t really think she will keep the nest, but it’s good training. We’ve had some egg eating issues, and I’m hoping teaching one or 2 how to brood will stop that. Jesus help me, maybe I’m just nuts!❤

Edit: Wanna hear something funny? I have a compost pit in the middle of my yard for poop, litter, and discarded bits of vegetable. I started it last fall hoping to breed some black soldier flies. I dug it out last week to bury more poop and newspaper, BUT I never get around to the burying because it keeps filling with rainwater. The chickens insist on drinking out of it instead of their waterers, and it looks so pretty I am seriously considering enlarging it and making a tiny pond. I think Jesus wants me to have ducks. Gotta do what da Boss says, right? :lau ❤ ✝

This isn’t funny. I skipped a few items when shopping last week because I order some things online. Toilet paper and other hygiene items. I’m still waiting for things to be in stock online, and according to the website, brick and mortar Target and Walmarts are out too. :th
Duckling has had a cough for weeks (if you’ve met me, and listened to me vent, you know why), and was kicked out of school.

I was curious and checked toilet paper online. They are sold out! Really?! I thought it's just in some areas where people fight for toilet paper. I guess it's nation wide. I would think they will be back in stock very quickly. This is different than face masks which very few peolple needed them before so not enough resources. Most people are using toilet paper everyday. It's too crazy.

I'm thinking about getting ducks too. Maybe next year. I have to have my chicken setup finished first though.
