I was going to clean the coop today. I went down, got straw in the nest boxes, and went to start moving the bedding. Then I saw a rake, and got out of the coop. I’m still traumatized.

I am guessing you are a victim of spell check and weren't actually traumatized by a rake.... unless it happened to look like a snake at the time? ;)

I stepped on a rake last Monday, and it went through. I promise I am healing quickly, it’s not infected, and God alone saved me, because it really could have turned out differently.
I will now go regurgitate. It was very terrifying.
:hugs

More pics of Dennis’s Marans. This is the one I think is a girl, “her” name is Anna.

And another 2 of Tiger...

Those 2 out of 6 are the only ones with names. I’m trying not to name chicks that might grow up to be dinner, but Jesus keeps nudging me!☺

These are Kim Renninger’s Marans (also known as The Peepers Keeper):

At first I thought 3 girls, then I thought the BC, Dart, might be a boy, now I just don’t know. It’s in Jesus’s hands now, I’m just content to wait and watch them grow!:pop

My chicken yard renovations continue to move along nicely! “New” sandbox, wind chimes, fire pile, pond, and now table and chairs! :wee I have an outdoor gliding chair to put under the wind chimes once I weatherproof it, and a charcoal grill to set up outside the fence. PLUS my friend got me some wooden wine boxes at FW&GS, so I’ve got new planters! (Gonna do nasturtium, radishes, marigolds, cherry tomatoes, and PEAS PEAS PEAS!) Nanking cherry bushes in pots, grapevine, roses next month...our sanctuary is shaping up beautifully!:love

That explains things then...I didn't think you were afraid of snakes but the rake thing I hadn't known about, now it makes sense. Glad to hear it is healing, foot injuries are miserable!

Since the zombie apocalypse will last a while, I’m planning my birthday dinner now. :lau I went online to add stuff to my grocery pickup cart, and the local Walmart is even out of porterhouse steak. I didn’t think steak would be a big sell, especially in March.
@OneMountainAcres are you planning ahead too?

So, just moved to Pennsylvania and wondering what plants anyone would recommend planting in the chicken run for the birds? Any plant recommendations welcome but specifically intrested in some type of bush/brush.
