Good quality blue laced reds are hard to find and stunningly beautiful. I'm not sure I'm ever seen one in person that meets the breed standard for color and pattern, but I've seen pics online.i raise blrw ,silver partridge ( penciled ) and slw. hatching out some lavender
Dennis, your Marans roos are doing great for me! More than half the chicks are black, most likely theirs. Thank you so much!Good quality blue laced reds are hard to find and stunningly beautiful. Good for you to keep those going.
Sounds like the boys get around. They are big, handsome males, it's no wonder the hens like them. I have some really fancy chickens, but it is hard to find any roo more handsome than a healthy Black Copper Marans.Dennis, your Marans roos are doing great for me! Amen. Wonderful birds. One of my Marans/Easter Egger hybrid roos got much too frisky with the ladies and I had to butcher him (first time!) Wonderful breast meat, so tender it’s like the texture of sushi! Not much of it, unfortunately.Sounds like the boys get around. They are big, handsome males, it's no wonder the hens like them. If Adam were a person, we know he would remember and miss his "parents", but as a testosterone fueled flock rooster, he might see it differently. @feliciadawn went by to visit Adam this afternoon and her husband was surprised that Adam did not greet them like a long lost son. He had a job to protect his flock and that apparently overrode any memory of his childhood, no matter how loving it was. He (rightly) viewed them as interlopers and potential threats to his ladies (of which there are many). He apparently drove off a fully grown Embden goose as well one day. He is a serious guardian now, and doing what every rooster hopes to have as a full time job. She said she got a video of him crowing -- which no one is complaining about anymore, it is part of the sounds of living in the country. Adam is fulfilling his destiny.I feel for you, @feliciadawn. I’m so glad Adam found a loving home, though I’m sure he would much rather be with you. Were you able to resolve the other issues with your township, or is the rest of the flock still in danger? Praying for you and your family.
