Question: I am seeking a new dog, sized 20-30 pounds (no larger or smaller!) who would be good with the chickens and also good with children with disabilities who come into my house for evaluations. Any thoughts? Two breeds I have looked into is a Pumi and Bedlington Terrier. Neither are ideal on all fronts -- the Pumi would be great with the chickens but questionable for therapy, and vice-versa for the terrier.

The Border Collie is a medium size dog that I have owned. I think it would be fine for your needs, but while my dog was on the smaller side, the average border collie starts at 30 pounds.

I think border collies need more work then what I have... I just have 11 chickens on a 1/3 acre plot. Might have a similar concern for a Pumi.
