I am sorry about the bad luck! I use the room humidity method. Which is I don't worry about what the humidity is until lockdown. I should not say that, I have mine set to not go below 30%. It is humid here so I usually don't have any problems. During lockdown I bump it up to 80%. That way if they pip early, there is usually enough moisture til it hatches, and they don't drown because the white disapated. That's what works for me, you could try it, but I don't know what kind of bator you are using. Good Luck

I bought eggs and the mix was buff-laced, WC black, WC chocolate and WC cuckoo. But I am concerned because I have no more pips. We lost power 3 times during the process, once for 15 hours. 18 went on lockdown. The first pip died before she got out, the second was a BL and I am not sure yet what color this little weak one is... she is still very wet. They are all bantams.

So that is my question to you all; what do you keep your humidity at during incubation? What about during lockdown? I am obviously doing something wrong here!

I don't add any water to the incubator during incubation.
I add water to the hatcher (on day 19) to make the humidity around 65%. My hatch rate is only about 75% of those going to the hatcher.
This last hatch, I only added enough water to make the humidity 57%.
7 out of 9 hatched, but I did not expect the other 2 to hatch anyway. I think that they were late quitters, but I put them in anyway.
So 7 out of 7 is good for me.....but....
I had to help 3 out of the egg and they were very sticky amd gooey.
I don't believe in helping, but once the membrane dries so that they can't spin around the chick won't make it anyway. So I usually give it a shot.
I will say though, I've had eggs hatch in the turner, with no humidity, and they had no issues. Just popped out.

Who needs babies when you have chicks, right? My husband's lucky I got into chickens, it has curbed my baby urges (I may have had 4 more)!!! They are beee-utiful.

Missy, that's funny! no nails, use screws. I discovered the beauty of a cordless drill when I built the coop for my EE's. This brooder introduced me to magic of Caulk.

Wlrabbitry, I found the coop here on BYC, on the top of the page, click on Coops, then Brooders, then on Stage~ii~Brooder. It was very easy! I made a few little changes, like making the walls shorter in the coop area so that there could be air flow. I then covered the open space with hardware cloth so that it's predator proof once I shut the door at night. I also made the bottom board out of 1 x 3 and cut it to 6 and 1/2 feet with a curve at the end so it could act as a skid when I go to move it. Still a bit heavy for me so I'm going to lighten up the next one. I took pictures all along of the progress, I won't post them here (don't want to bore everyone) but perhaps I can start a thread in the Coop Section.

And a sad day in hatch world. While I was gone today, Popcorn got off her remaining 4 eggs, I made a quick stop home around 4 and they were cold, 2 pipped and silent, 1 zipped and peeping and the last no signs of life. I am absolutely heart broken. I had the incubator running just in case, and one of the kids here the whole time that just could not care less. I sure hope this isn't the kid assigned to take care of me when I'm old. I popped the three hopeless ones in the bator and put the peeping one under Popcorn. Here's hoping!!

I am so sorry. Looks like a bad week for hatching here in PA.

My hubby says that my clock is spinning 100 mph and that is why I can't stop hatching and always want to get new babies LOL
What can I say....I need babies.
