oh ok... where is it located?? I just went to my first livestock auction on tues night and... IT WAS HORRID!!! won't go to that one again!! It was in a very small area, so the chickens they had were mostly roosters, the BO in the place was staggering, and the handling of the chickens was so bad I actually had to walk outside at one point... Will not go back there again!! There is one by selinsgrove that is huge and I want to go to that one, but seeing as it is two hours each way I have to plan ahead and it is a weekday...

Yes to the pheasants. There have been pheasant eggs every time I've been there, sometimes pheasants as well. I've never been there the entire auction, it goes WAY into the night as it doesn't start until 6:30 pm - so who knows what all they had. Also peafowl, Guinneas (sp) and turkeys I've seen. There are SO many guinnea pigs and rabbits, it will make your head spin.

If you want to avoid heat and smell, it's not the ideal place to spend your Friday night. Also, and I can't stress this enough... If you're going to buy birds, LOOK them over. Be a responsible buyer. QUARANTINE when you get home. This goes for anywhere you find yourself buying birds. Ask yourself, when selling your stock, what do you sell? Your BEST birds? I don't think so. And as long as I'm up here preaching, birds with underlying illnesses will get sick after the stress of an auction. So the seller can bring the bird who seems fine, then it gets sick after being at your home. Do people sell sick birds on purpose? Yes. So again, Buyer Beware, and QUARANTINE, scrub your shoes when you get home and before you go near your own flock.

VERY good. I got 9 hatched out of 10 SHIPPED eggs. I was SO happy about that! And I got 2 Langshans hatched. So I only lost 2 out of 13, which is a great rate for me!!! I have 4 wyandottes under my silkie hens and I still have a bator full of silkies and ameraucana going in lockdown Monday. And my replacement polsh eggs should be here today.

How about yours?
