people with house chickens

Sometimes it helps to wrap a towel around them so they don't use their wings to wiggle their way out of your arms. I never really had a problem with it though, Maddie would fall asleep whenever I'd file her beak! She seemed to enjoy it haha

We have filed down Rover and Einstein's beaks. Rover almost enjoys it. Einstein is not so easy, his crook neck makes it tough. You definitely want two people, one to pin their wings to their body hold them, and calm them down. the other files away! I say do it because a lot can go wrong if you let them overgrow.

you could also give them scratch on cement patio blocks or even some heavy grit sandpaper. that way they file it down themselves.

toe nails you just have to cut, unless they do some serious digging around.

How is everyone?

Great info!! I need to have a friend come over and help me with her beak. Muffy and I r great! Starting to snow here in Rochester Washington, just chillin on the couch watching vampire movies!

Can someone post a pic of their seramas? I want an idea of how big they are...

Typically, they stand about as tall as a can of coke. Of course, I've seen bigger and smaller. Mine isn't a good reference, since he/she isn't anywhere near grown yet.. I just remember that at 3 weeks old, he/she was smaller than Sterling, my baby Silkie right out of the egg.
