people with house chickens

Okay, so I just got everyone moved into the brooder, and got the best pictures I could without anyone getting too cold. I didn't think I'd get the colors that came up this time around, but I'm really excited to see what they end up looking like!

They all hatched on 3/15, which makes them exactly 3 months younger than Sterling! Also, they're all rocking 5 toes this time!

Check 'em out :)

Baby#1:
I have no idea how this came from my two birds, but it's incredible! Looks like a Zebra with a rusty back!

Baby#2:
Slightly more white-ish zebra!

Baby#3:
Zebra with much rustiness!

Babies #4, 5, and 6:
It's gonna be nearly impossible to tell them apart... They are all stealthy ninjas with rusty overtones!

Oh, and while I'm at it, here's some pictures I took today:
Enzo the Modern Game Bantam (who NEVER spends any time in her cage anymore at ALL) taking a break in the kitchen after playing outside for 3 or 4 hours:
Lookit those fancy feathers!!!

And here's little Sterling, fluffing up nicely as she grows up, with her bestest friend in the whole world... Brutus, the pint-sized Serama rooster. Don't they make the most ridiculous couple ever?

Annnnnd that's it for now :)

Ahh, too cute! Wouldn't it be awesome if some chicks stayed forever young? Oh, maybe not, because of the whole Easter thing..

So apparently in Connecticut, this woman had 193 chickens taken away from her last Friday or so, and they all had to be put down because they had a respiratory disease. Some people on the Maine thread said they had sold their birds to her. She was only allowed back to the house to feed them and clean up after them.

Someone sent me a PM a few minutes ago, saying she changed her name and gave me a link to her FB page. Lots of pictures of chickens on there.

Its just so awful that someone could do that to those poor chicks...

@PhantomChikkinz Your birds are so adorable. Sterling and Brutus are so funny. I can't believe how fast Sterling grew. It seems like you just posted her baby pictures!

Thank you! :)

It really is something, isn't it? I can't remember any of my birds growing so rapidly. Even better that Sterling is looking to be a she instead of a he! It's just so funny that Brutus and her are basically joined at the hip - they will not do anything individually. What's even funnier, is that Brutus was a couple weeks old when Sterling hatched, but Sterling has been bigger than him since the day she came out of the egg! Hahaha
