people with house chickens

We don't know yet about Marcy, I'm hoping permanently because I love her so much. We are getting more females tomorrow and we will see if they still bug her.

Do any of you have a house chicken that will literally do anything for treats?

Sunni is so food driven. It's hilarious! She'll jump 6 inches into the air, hop down the stairs, run through the house, etc for treats. Her favorite treats are animal crackers, yogurt, cheese, and bread. She learned to come when I call her name because of treats.

All I have to do is say "Sunni!" or "C'mon Sunni!" when I'm in another room and she'll come running.

She also knows which cupboard the animal crackers come from. If I even open that cupboard an inch when she's within eyesight of me, she'll run full speed through the house. She looks like a little dinosaur when she runs, too. :lau

Adorable! Hahaha!

Enzo isn't super motivated by food, but she will steal it from either one of our dogs. Usually, when I throw treat to Roscoe (our Pit Bull), there will be a piece or two that hits the floor as he's chewing. She will jump right in there and claim it for herself. If Roscoe decides he wants the rest of his treat and puts his face down to scoop it up, he is met with an immediate BAM! on the nose from Enzo's beak. Poor guy. Same goes for when one of the dogs wants to check out what Enzo is eating. You could say she doesn't like sharing. Haha.

Its the exact opposite here! Whenever I try to give Finn a treat, Jackie will come up and take it right out of his beak! Maisy did that once too, and now whenever he sees her, he does his sideways walk to her.

Ugh, here I am talking about how sweet he is, and he just crapped on my nice pants. The diaper we ordered is like 5 sizes too big, so my dad is going to make one.

We have a baby!!!
700

Its very nosey, but Helen is a great momma and pokes it back under her to keep warm right away lol. Funny hearing peeping in
the livingroom :D

Finn doesn't know his name, so I have to say "chick chick" really fast, because that's what I called him when he was a baby. I had a brownie today and I was sitting on the floor, and he came running from the other room. He climbed right onto my lap and then kept walking up my side and almost jumped on the plate! Finn has no manners, lol!

Sunni doesn't have any manners either! If anyone sits down anywhere other then the table with a plate of food, she'll jump on your lap, and try to pull stuff off of your plate. She's such a little stinker. But she's cute, and she knows it. It's hard not to give her treats when she's giving you that cute little one eyed stare. :p

Sunni does that with our cats. One of our cats is about 20 lbs, and he LOVES cereal, bread, crackers, and pretty much anything full of carbs. So sometimes we'll toss him a piece of bread or something and Sunni will come up and peck him in the nose or ears and take his treat!

One time Sunni had a little bowl of Cheerios and Sid (our cat) came and stuck his head in the bowl. Bad idea. She pecked him on the top of the head and chased him through the kitchen. :lau You would think our cat would learn, but he doesn't. He has gotten pecked by Sunni more times than I can count.

Just checked again and we have a weak wet baby just hatched. I had to stop a bit of a bloody umbilicus. All seems ok for now, its peeping off and on and drying off under a toasty motherly momma hen! In my livingroom :D The other peeper is real nosey and VERY NOISEY for now its name is Peeper. It is abt 18 hrs old now :D We will think abt naming the other little one should it strengthen and make it through the first day of life. I will give him some sugar water to help him out I the mean time. :fl

Awww poor kitty!

It's funny how cats won't mess with chickens.. At least mine doesn't, and it shocks me every time I see them in the same room. Out in the yard, he will murder pretty much anything and everything he can get his paws on. Birds (from finches to those big fat texas doves), lizards, snakes, every insect except roaches, mice, rats, squirrels, possums, etc... But he will not mess with any of the chickens, even my tiny little Serama. He will even jump up on my lap when I'm cuddling with Phantom, or one of the other more tolerant chickens, but attacking them has never crossed his mind. At least not after Chuck the leghorn decided to show him who owns the floor. Haha.

It is funny. I've outside cats, one of whom even brought a baby wild turkey home to eat on my doorstep. But my chickens? Nope - I don't doubt they would if there weren't a mama around, but there is.
