Perches?

My week old chicks are currently in a 35 gallon (soon to be 55) Rubbermaid container and soon I want to put a perch or two in there. Any ideas as to what kind of material to use and how to put it in?

Pictures would be greatly appreciated!

We went to Lowe's and got a small piece of wood for the base and two wood pieces for corners and placed those so the point was up and a small dowel stuck in between. Anchored of course! They love it!!

We used 1x1 boards as the roost, and other scrap wood to boost it up and make it stable...so basically, just extra stuff we had laying around

I tried a dowel and they couldn't grip it, so we replaced it with a 1.5 inch wide board with nice steady scraps of 2X4s bracing it on the ends, just a few inches off the floor of the brooder.

They're roosting every night now, at 10 days old. It's adorable. It took about 3 minutes to make!

I took a 2x4 and nailed it to a 1/4" piece of plywood to stabilize it and the chickies LOVE perching on it. It is about 8" long.
