Perching quail

My quail always perch at night. Except the one that doesn’t know how to get up there..

That is so cool!!! I was under the impression that their feet weren't able to do so.

If you look at their feet, they can't wrap their toes all the way around like small perching birds do, but they need some toe flexibility to be able to climb. I'd guess the perch is wide enough that they can stand on it without their toes curled.

These are bobwhite quail. They do perch. They would probably wrap their feet around the perch if it was round - looks to me like it's flat? Coturnix and button quail do not perch.
