How do you know if you are having symptoms of perimenopause? Lately I have been moody and not feeling well, is this a symptom?
Does anyone have any descriptions of menopause and perimenopause?

plus wanting to rip someones head off..

When you walk outside in a snowstorm in a tank top....or the bedroom window is wide open in the winter time ...and hubby says he's c c c old !

..now read the first sentence again...

when hubby wears all the blankets in bed and the next hour he has no blankets...

I am so there.

Just now hubby walked into the office and complains it's hot - I am comfortable for a change - usually I am dying from the heat.

Poor guy woke up at 5 AM yesterday morning with all the sheets piled on top of him in a sweaty wad - I was trying to get them off me in the worst way. I had the window wide open (it was raining, I didn't care) and the fan turned on high aimed right at the bed. I was still too hot.

When he asked what the heck was up he almost got shoved out of bed. (in my defence, he did try to give me back the sheets as covers)

I would like to know too,..and how old do you have to be for these symptoms to start. I have had LOTS of troubles with these kind of symptoms since my daughter was born 6 years ago. I am only 37 so perimenopause or menopause is not possible according to "doctor". Favorite diagnosis is depression. I have no clue why a person would be depressed when they want to rip someones head off and stuff it up their---,..oops,...I am feeling much better now.

For me, age 35, the doctor said, "You can't be in perimenopause. You're much too young." I told him that my mother was through menopause at my age. He then said, "Well, family history is the best indicator." I was fully through menopause by age 42. Symtoms in addition to the already mentioned ones were a headache that began just after I turned 34 and never completely went away until after I was 40. Doc had tried several different meds for depression and sleeping pills (my symptoms included night after night after night of no sleep, followed by not being able to keep my eyes open). He had checked for a possible brain tumor. When I finally told my mother about what was going on, she said, "Oh, you're just entering menopause. Get used to it for a while."

I know menopause or not, once you hit 35, your body is like a battleground. PMS is soooo much worse, it never goes away. The night sweats and hot flashes, or should I say being flushed. It feels like you are melting from head down. I hate that "feeling". You have days when you feel good and then there is days that you shouldn't even get out of bed. Sometimes you can sleep, sometimes you cant. I have more acne now than I did when I was a teenager, which I hate! I feel sometimes like a teenager going through puberty again. Is that anything like going through menopause? I have a temper from heck and just dont put up with no crap. My DH says I have gotten mean.

LOL, I am going thru it right now, been happening since last year which I was 43 years old. PMS is BAAAAAAAD! and I bite off my hubby's head once in a while so he knows he better not say anything that would set me off. I am usually so mellow and laid back but during this time, forget it! The wicked witch of the west chickendom!

Hot flashes, yep but not as often as you guys are but when they do come, look out!

Headaches, migraines more often than not.

Yep, dryness so sex is on the side table for a while but hubby is very understanding about it.

And my periods are either a week early or a week late, you never know but you better make sure your protection is on stand by.

And yes, it will take a good while for our bodies to go into the menopause after the perimenopause period which I read it would take anywhere from six months to seven years. I hope I dont wait that long!

Family history, you bet!

You still can get pregnant during this time so dont think about getting off your BC! Unless you had your tubes tied.

I have come to the conclusion that doctors sometimes just don't get it? I had my last child a year ago last week. After I had him, I was fine. I nursed him, I had shots of depo-provera because it is supposedly safe while nursing. Everything was fine. Then in January, I started having bad pains in chest(gas). My eyes wouldn't focus, pounding in chest, and getting a hot flush moving up my body. Could not figure it out. Went to doctor, she said :"we will watch it, in some rare cases it might be a tumor on your adrenal gland." I am only 40, so peri or menopause was not even thought of by me. I don't have family history because other than my mom, everyone in her family and my dad's family had hysterrectomies. Now I have been reading up on it, and I realize it only happens at a certain time of the month. Every month since January, and then I am fine for about 2 weeks. Then it starts all over again. My moods are also awful, I go from anger to exhaustion in no time. I am reading up on it, but all books talk about is mood swings and hot flashes. I was wondering if anyone has other symptoms from it?
